My client is committed to excellence and fostering professional growth, and as such is looking for a Geo-environmental Engineer to join their expanding Chester office.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists who are part of the larger group of Civil and Structural Engineers.

The team specializes in identifying, quantifying, and reducing abnormal costs in developments at an early stage and providing effective holistic solutions for a range of geotechnical, environmental, and waste management issues for both commercial and private clients. The successful candidate should have at least two years of experience and should be able to demonstrate a proven track record relating to the management and reporting of contaminated land, geotechnical, and civil engineering site investigations.

Knowledge and/or experience in remediation and verification work will also be beneficial.

The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Writing of Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports
  • Design, set up, and management of site investigations, including logging of soils and rocks
  • Management of site-based sub-contractors
  • Recording and interpretations of site data
  • Scheduling of chemical and geotechnical testing
  • DQRA's
  • Preparation of generic and site-specific health and safety risk assessments

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the use of borehole software such as HoleBase/AGS
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel skills, as well as basic knowledge of CAD
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • Applicant should have membership of a professional organization such as the Geological or CIWEM, ideally working towards Chartered status
  • A relevant Master's degree may be beneficial either within geological or environmental science
