TheCityUK is offering an exciting opportunity for an Intern, Policy and Public Affairs Researcher to join our team. This role is designed for individuals with a keen interest in politics, public affairs, and the financial and related professional services industry. Over the course of 12 months, the intern will support our public affairs and policy teams with research, stakeholder engagement, and event organization. This position offers a unique insight into the intersection of finance, policy, and public affairs, providing the successful candidate with invaluable experience in a leading industry-led body that champions the UK-based financial and professional services sector.

What will you be doing?
As an Intern, Policy and Public Affairs Researcher, you will:

  • Conduct research on political issues and the positions of major parties as they relate to the financial and professional services industry.
  • Draft communications to political stakeholders and produce briefing materials for internal and external meetings.
  • Support the organization of public affairs events, including roundtables and receptions.
  • Monitor political developments in Westminster, identifying potential impacts on TheCityUK and its members.
  • Assist in managing our consultation tracker and support the preparation of materials for member and stakeholder meetings.
  • Engage with TheCityUK’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, helping to secure speakers and organize events.
    This role will enable you to develop a deep understanding of the policy and public affairs landscape within the financial services sector, enhance your research and analytical skills, and build a network of professional contacts.

Essential skills/experience
We are looking for a graduate with:

  • A strong interest in politics, public affairs, and current affairs, particularly as they relate to the financial and professional services sector.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Robust research and analytical abilities.
  • The capacity to work effectively in a team, multitask, and meet deadlines.
