As a Senior Data Analyst, you will manipulate, analyse, and present data to provide business and operational insight. The role will have a core focus on Power BI reporting and will need you to assess data through exploratory data analysis, develop clear visualisations, and to clearly communicate to a variety of audiences.

  • analyse data to assess quality, making recommendations based on findings
  • analyse data in different systems in preparation for migration or integration, working with business stakeholders to support data cleaning where required
  • manipulate and link different datasets to compare data or create data models for use in analytics
  • summarise and communicate your analytical findings about data to a variety of different stakeholders both verbally and through visualisation
  • collaborate with analytical disciplines across Parliament to improve performance measurement processes

The above list of key responsibilities is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and banding of the post.

What You Need

  • your experience of analysis and statistics and use of tools such as Power BI, will have led you to develop metrics and data visualisations that accurately represent data and convey business meaning so that decision makers have the information they need.
  • your experience of using SQL or other querying, statistical or scripting languages, will mean you are able to effectively manipulate datasets for the purpose of migration, integration, or reporting.
  • your experience of working in a diverse team and/or with diverse stakeholders will mean you form effective working relationships, adapting your working style and communication to accommodate the needs of others whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion
  • excellent oral communication skills, with proven ability to manage and form effective working relationships with key customers and stakeholders to elicit information and inform decisions.
  • desired: our experience in administering Power BI (or similar) will have involved controlling user access, configuring workspaces, and managing gateways. This experience will have enabled you to optimise performance, ensure data security, and provide support to users, contributing to effective and efficient business intelligence solutions within your organization -
  • the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK

The Data and Search team consists of data analysts and data engineers who focus on understanding data, providing insights, and transforming and integrating data to effectively deliver services to Parliament.
