We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to build and develop our DevOps culture and strategy, and guide a team of specialist engineers here at DWP Digital.

We want you to drive development of our technical landscape and define what DevOps looks like in DWP Digital. You will lead teams to deliver real value to people that need help at key times in their lives.
Experience of leading and supporting engineers in agile multi-disciplinary teams, following a DevOps strategy.

~ Experience of the full life cycle of cloud-based platforms and applications from design and deployment, to supporting and patching (in particular AWS and Azure).

~ Experience of version control systems as well as building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines e.g. git with GitLab CI or Jenkins.

~ Experience of Infrastructure-as-code and configuration of code for one or more cloud providers.

~ Experience of multiple scripting and/or programming languages (e.g. Bash, Python).

As our Lead DevOps Engineer, you will work across multiple teams as an engineering specialist leading DWP's DevOps strategy.
You'll be our technical product owner, developing the strategy for product lines, defining and refining our engineering standards across our Digital Channels. You will ensure that security, stability and capacity are embedded in the development and deployment of services.
Your expert technical knowledge will enable you to provide leadership and guidance through coaching and mentoring, and increasing the capability of up to 20 DevOps engineers.
An important part of this role is your responsibility to develop your team's capability, helping to shape our community and recruit the right talent by identifying skills gaps and important dependencies within technical teams.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £89,995.
