We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced permanent Clinical Psychologist to join the specialist CAMHS Learning Disability Family Intensive Support Service. We are an innovative, multi-disciplinary, community team working in partnership with families whose children have moderate to severe learning disabilities with significant psychological, behavioural and communication difficulties. The team is comprised of Clinical Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Positive Behaviour Practitioner, Family Support Practitioners, Consultant Psychiatrist and Specialist Nurse. The post is based in Hailsham, but covers the whole of East Sussex and you will be required to travel between sites.

specialist psychological assessments and multi-disciplinary interventions for children presenting with challenging behaviours, including facilitating parent groups.
Consultation and Training to other agencies and services working with children with learning disabilities

children/young people with learning disabilities
in a CAMHS setting
adults with a learning disability
direct work with children/young people, parents and carers
providing supervision, consultation and training.

We use a wide range of psychological models and approaches but some previous experience of working using Systemic approaches, Positive Behaviour Support, Functional Analysis, Attachment theory and the Family Partnership Model would be an advantage.


You will be well supported in the team by other senior Psychologists.
We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.


Travel easily between coast and countryside, with a blend of picturesque villages and seaside towns there's always new experiences to be enjoyed
East Sussex CAMHS LD/FISS is a vibrant and robust team with friendly and supportive colleagues.


We manage some very complex cases but the team works well and provides lots of support and supervision and team members never feel they are working in isolation even during current remote working.

Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)


Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
Formal training in supervision of other psychologists
Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC

Doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the HPC.
Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
Formal training in supervision of other psychologists
Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC
