Job Title: Legal Counsel (Commercial/TMT)

Location: Dubai

Department: Group Legal

Reports To: Associate Legal Director & Group General Counsel

As a Legal Counsel (Commercial/TMT), you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the commercial legal matters across the business. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, while providing sound legal advice on complex commercial issues. Working under the direction of the Associate Legal Director and Group General Counsel, you will help ensure that the business operates within a solid legal framework and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage commercial and TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecom) related legal matters within the organization.
  • Draft, review, and amend a variety of commercial contracts and agreements, ensuring they align with business objectives and comply with applicable laws.
  • Provide legal advice on existing and new commercial agreements, ensuring that the business is protected from potential risks.
  • Prepare research notes, legal opinions, and other documentation to support commercial and TMT-related legal matters.
  • Act as a key point of contact for commercial legal advice within the UAE region and the wider group.
  • Provide commercial legal support to various business units, offering strategic guidance on legal matters that affect business operations.
  • Support the development of processes, systems, and procedures related to commercial legal matters, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislative changes, legal trends, and industry best practices in commercial law, TMT, and data privacy.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum PQE of 3-5 years (common law qualified), ideally with experience at an international law firm or in-house at a multinational organization.
  • Proven experience in commercial/TMT law, including expertise in data privacy, technology law, strategic sourcing, IT, and intellectual property (IP) advisory matters.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle complex contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Solid understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape relevant to commercial and TMT sectors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across different business functions.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to distill complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice.
