Book Aid International: Head of Operations

We are looking to recruit a Head of Operations & Acquisitions to join our charity and help us drive its development to reach even more people around the world with life-changing access to books
The Head of Operations & Acquisitions leads on the sourcing, warehousing and shipping of more than 1 million books every year - books that are gifted brand new to the charity by UK publishers.
The role holds responsibility for all logistics and warehouse activity, as well as the charity’s vital relationships with the publishing industry, and manages an expenditure budget of c.£500k p.a.
The Head of Operations & Acquisitions is an integral member of the Senior Management team. Working closely with the Chief Executive and the Board of Trustees, the role contributes directly to the delivery of the 2025 Power of Books strategy and the future growth and vision of the charity.
We are looking for a publishing professional with experience of logistics and an in-depth understanding of publishing and related industries. Experience of international development or international business would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be energetic and driven, a problem solver and pragmatic, a leader but with a strong team ethic and at home in a warehouse environment. Ability to engage supporters, drive donations and inspire people about the work of BAI is essential.
We are looking for someone who loves books and the book world, and who believes, as we do, that everyone, whatever their circumstances, should have access to books that inspire, inform and transform people’s life chances.
