We are a team of 10 Orthoptists with diverse interests including glaucoma, stroke and paediatric ophthalmology as well as varied orthoptic caseload and a reception aged school vision screening programme. We have two (soon to be three) Consultant Ophthalmologists with interests in paediatrics, ocular motility and neuro ophthalmology ,who value hugely our input into their caseload, and 12 consultant ophthalmologists in total covering all sub-specialities

You will have the support of a preceptor to enable you to get the best start to your orthoptic career to develop your skills, behaviours and values.

We are able to offer a competitive relocation package, to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake a varied orthoptic clinical role, including specialist paediatric, ocular motility and neuro-ophthalmology clinics.

Audit and continuing professional development are encouraged in the department, and we have regular teaching sessions. We are a placement centre for orthoptic undergraduate students. The department supports the BIOS preceptorship scheme as well as utilising the Somerset Foundation Trust AHP preceptorship programme enabling you to make contact with other early career AHPs.
