Our school is a highly-successful comprehensive school (ages 11-18) in the northwest London Borough of Brent. We require a new Head of Department for PE to start in January or as soon as possible thereafter.
PE is taught as a core subject to classes in Year 7 through to Year 11, and sports and fitness is offered as a 6thfrom enrichment activity. The school has two gyms, an outdoor MUGA and a recently refurbished and equipped fitness suite. There is scope to further develop and build sports across the school and to introduce PE at GCSE and, in time, at A level. This is a very exciting time to join this happy, successful and thriving school community.
We are seeking a dynamic, hardworking, flexible team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our busy school.To ensure the highest quality teaching, learning, marking and assessment is embedded in the department and to model best practice and high standards at all times.
To plan, prepare, resource and deliver the highest quality lessons and learning opportunities for students within an ordered, purposeful, positive and calm environment.
To deliver quality first wave teaching to students of all abilities and aptitudes, providing differentiated materials and tasks, modelling and scaffolding appropriately method and best practice.
To ensure that setting across the department maximises learning and progress and is a fluid process with students able to move between sets according to performance and outcomes.
To set and mark work and homework (PPM) that stretches and challenges students, that promotes reading and enables good and better academic progress to be secured.
To ensure the department offers engaging and relevant extracurricular groups, clubs and/or societies, that these are marketed in line with the school information to parents and students on clubs on the website, and to monitor the quality of the experiences offered to students.
To support the wider education and enrichment of students by planning, leading and participating in educational visits and/or supporting departmental colleagues in doing so.
To support the schools preparations for Diocesan section 48 inspection and section 5/section 8 Ofsted inspection.
