Introduction to Role
Join us as a Process Development Director in our Biopharmaceuticals R&D team, where you will lead the Flu Drug Substance (DS) Process Development Team. This role is pivotal in enabling the delivery of end-to-end process improvements for the Flumist/Fluenz (LAIV) vaccine manufacturing process. This includes the development of the next generation vaccine manufacturing platform as well as the life-cycle management of the current commercial process.

Accountabilities

As a Process Development Director, you will be responsible for leading technical process improvements, managing a team of scientists, and ensuring alignment with required standards. You will also be a core member of the Flumist Chemistry Manufacturing and control (CMC) Team, accountable for process improvements and scientific leadership within the franchise. Your role will also involve forming and managing external relationships and collaborations, authoring scientific publications and regulatory submissions, and presenting results at internal and external scientific meetings.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • PhD or equivalent qualification and experience in biochemical engineering and/or, in a life sciences subject area (biochemistry, microbiology, virology)
  • Strong team leadership and communication skills, including line management as well as leading outsourced activities
  • Ability to critically interpret scientific, process and analytical data
  • Expertise in drug development and GMP manufacturing

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in biologics process development, notably vaccine or live virus products.
  • Experience in leading CMC development through to regulatory approval of biopharmaceutical products.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working closely with cGMP manufacturing for clinical or commercial products
