Senior Safety C&I Engineer
Derby or Warrington / Hybrid
£That's a once-in-a-career opportunity for those excited by such a challenge. We are now recruiting for a Senior Safety C&I Engineer to be involved in delivering an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of nuclear power station.
As a Senior Safety C&I Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of hardwired protection and accident management systems for the SMR nuclear power plant ‘reactor island'.
This covers the delivery of the complete design of the systems, spanning requirements gathering, development of system architecture, sub-system design and equipment specification, and design / selection to realise the final verified design of the systems in support of the overall design of the power station. You will do this by working closely with the engineering teams from across the reactor island and applying a structured systems engineering approach to design.
Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components and systems to facilitate effective system design.
Support to planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the life cycle of the systems.
Ensure that optimum solutions are provided for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant by supporting the procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of the equipment.
Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.

As we strive to find the best fit for this position, we are seeking individuals with a minimum level of experience, training, and qualification. Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of C&I systems including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical C&I systems. This together with a good understanding of the principles of designing systems to be functionally resilient to faults (such as redundancy and diversity) would be beneficial.
Knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards for systems important to safety (e.g. Knowledge and experience of applying systems engineering methodologies including Model Based Systems Engineering to C&I systems.
Training & Qualification Requirements
• Hold a degree level qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, mechatronics, physics or computer science.
• Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
