About the role

Outlier Ventures is searching for an experienced Events Manager to join our team. As an Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying impactful spaces for Outlier Ventures’ virtual and physical presence, delivering engaging events tailored to a technology and Web3-focused audience. Your responsibilities will include managing participation at industry conferences, Demo Days, meetups, side events, and virtual events to help grow the Outlier brand. Proficiency in scheduling, vendor management, event production, coordinating content and logistics, KPI reporting, lead generation and event evaluation is essential.

Your role within Outlier Ventures will be instrumental in fostering our market growth by strategically planning events and activities to enhance our brand visibility, networking with potential partners and founders, and engaging with a global community interested in Web3 and emerging technologies. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including the portfolio, investor relations, marketing, and accelerator teams is integral to this role.

Key Responsibilities: General:
  • Create and manage a strategic plan for all Outlier events
  • Collaborate with the wider business to promote and drive attendance for events.
  • Collaborate with marketing to ensure CRM management of events.
  • Collaborate with marketing to curate the most impactful content from events.
  • Collaborate with the comms team to identify opportunities for speaking engagements - both virtual and in person events.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and gather feedback for improvement.
  • On-going internal communication on events cadence and process with the wider company.
  • Manage Outlier’s event telegram group to ensure that our community and founders are kept up to date on Outlier events
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring financial goals are met.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and event management best practices.
  • Manage and navigate event partner and stakeholder relationships.
  • Build relationships and nurture a network within the Web3 event community.
  • Report into the Head of Marketing and liaising with departments across the business.
In-person Events:
  • Plan and oversee the schedule of participation at events around the globe, varying in size from local meetups to large conferences and side events.
  • Manage all logistics related to in person events such as vendor management, guest lists, booth production, swag, venue selection, catering, transportation, and audio-visual requirements.
  • When applicable, handle on-site event management, troubleshooting any issues that may arise during the event.
Virtual Events:
  • Act as the lead producer for online events and our quarterly Demo Days to ensure high-quality and smooth production.
  • Manage virtual event platforms and technology, ensuring optimal functional and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
  • Monitor live comments and community participation to help drive dialogue and engagement.
  • Coordinate with founders, partners, hosts and guests to plan the lifecycle of the event, prepare appropriate content and demos, minimise friction and drive audience participation.
  • Create and implement pre-event rehearsal plans.
  • Oversee the production timelines and deliverables to ensure all deadlines are met, with internal stakeholders and external agencies.

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as required.
  • Procurement experience with network of suppliers, vendors, venues etc
Education / Experience:
  • Proven experience in planning and executing virtual and in-person events.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in virtual event platforms. Live broadcast experience is a bonus.
  • Experience in events targeting founders and VCs is preferred.
  • Previous involvement in Web3 industry events is desirable.
  • Experience in a producer role on virtual platforms is a plus.
  • International travel readiness.
