Accountabilities

  • Provide effective, senior operational leadership with high standards ofadvice and support.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, legislation, professionalcodes of practice, health and safety requirements and adherence to councilpolicy.
  • Enable the delivery of projects, interventions and initiatives and developpolicies in-line with corporate and business plans.
  • Ensure and develop appropriate levels of quality and specialist knowledgewithin the team so that high customer service standards are achieved,applying effective and timely performance management within assignedservice area.
  • Ensure that enquiries, complaints, and cases are managed and completed atthe appropriate level.
  • Effectively manage service budgets, resources, and performance to deliverpriorities, providing regular reporting as required.
  • Be a role model for the service, demonstrating authenticity, integrity,resilience, and compassion and focussing on communication, personaldevelopment, and wellbeing.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Degree/relevant qualification and/or extensivework experience in specialist field, with evidence of Continuous andProfessional Development (CPD).
  • Registered member of chartered institute ofhousing (this is desirable, not essential)
  • Experience of the working in the Public Sector ordemonstrable knowledge of Local Authority regulation and governancearrangements, with an understanding and focus on the current challengeswithin the housing sector, including affordable housing and temporaryaccommodation.
  • Significant experience of management, leading andensuring professional practice and high standards of customer delivery,balancing strategic support and practical operational management, which iscompliant with HR policy and process.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience across thebroad remit of the role, having the ability to work at the level requiredfor the lead role, supporting the Council’s workforce agenda and day to dayoperations.
  • Financial and commercial acumen with experienceof managing budgets and resource management to ensure effectiveness andefficiency.
  • Proven ability to manage staff in a hybridworking environment including setting clear targets and objectives andproactively managing workflow, priorities, and performance. As well asensuring team members can learn and develop within their role to aid careerprogression and address skills gaps.
  • Able to manage changing priorities and workloads,use technology proficiently, communicate effectively, identify risks,present confidently, and lead teams remotely or in hybrid settings.
