The RoleWorking exclusively as partners with the NHS, Cygnet Health Care provides first-class operations and facilities for care and rehab in Mental Health, Acute, PICU, Acquired Brain Injuries, Eating Disorders, CAMHS, and Social Care across a UK-wide portfolio of 170+ Hospitals. The Construction Director (CD) is responsible for managing all aspects of design, technical, contractual, and cost elements of growth and major retool construction projects. This includes ensuring that construction projects are completed within approved budgets and agreed timescales. The Construction Director will collaborate with the GPD, the Regional Facilities Directors (RFD), and the Head of Health & Safety (HOHS) to ensure efficient project delivery and a high-quality environment for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and lead a team of Project Managers, Architectural and Interior Designers, and associated support staff.
- Maintain and build a robust supply chain, manage relationships, and maximize buying power with key contractors, professionals, and suppliers.
- Challenge contractors, designs, and suppliers to deliver cost-efficient and fit-for-purpose facilities.
- Monitor performance of construction activities using key metrics and prepare reports for the Executive Board.
- Ensure compliance with all planning, building regulations, and other statutory construction and H&S requirements for new developments and retools.
- An entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven experience in construction project management and managing relationships with key clients, preferably in the healthcare or hospitality sector.
- Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Quantity/Building surveying, Construction qualification, and background.
- Chartered member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, or equivalent.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including report writing skills.
