Creating new IP from consumer electronics to medical devices
For the technophile whose curiosity extends across physics, electronics and beyond. Much of commercial product development is iterative; this role cuts across that, in the creation of brand new patentable designs in a variety of fields. Collaboratively research existing inventions, brainstorm and innovate to produce brand new IP for top companies.
You likely have studied physics or electronics, and have hobby projects in potentially very different areas. You know how household technology works, and can explain it. You’re not intimidated by an abundance of technical information, like patents, from different fields – instead you enjoy understanding them and may find them fascinating.
You’d be happy to apply your energy and creativity in coming up with (assisted by likeminded colleagues) new viable inventions in a variety of sectors which might include consumer electronics, green tech or energy saving, medical devices, communications tech, automotive and/or aerospace.
An engineering or scientific bachelor’s degree (1st or 2:1 from a Russell Group or comparable university), most likely in physics or electronics, but potentially in other scientific or engineering fields. You likely also have a technical master’s degree, PhD, or MBA.
Communication skills, resourcefulness, you are collaborative, and consider yourself to be an inventive or creative person. You’d work from the Cambridge or London office 2 days per week with home working other days. The company offers a rewarding bonus scheme, and the chance for expenses-paid travel.
