We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious and passionate teacher to join our Creative and Performing Arts team as Head of Music. We are looking for someone who is an excellent teacher and musician who can promote their love of music to our students at Woolmer Hill and also within the wider community. This post would suit a teacher looking for their first leadership position, or equally an experienced leader.

This post holder will join a team of five teachers in our Creative and Performing Arts Faculty (Music, Drama and Art). All members of the team are specialists in their subject areas. The faculty offer numerous events and opportunities for student participation each year including the annual school production, Young Musician of the year competition, Orchestra day (for our students and also those at our primary feeder schools), Jazz band etc.

As part of a multi academy trust there are many opportunities for collaboration and sharing of good practice across the member schools. This is an ideal opportunity for the successful postholder to be involved in working with other music teacher across the trust. For example, our school jazz band and vocalists visited Amsterdam in May 2023 to perform with students and staff from another school within our Trust.

We are looking for a candidate with the skills and experience to make a real difference as our school expands to its maximum capacity. We are looking for someone who will be a team player in this oversubscribed, friendly and high-achieving school where we challenge all students and staff to be the best they can be.

  • the ability to form excellent relationships with students, and all stakeholders
  • a driven and motivated professional who works hard and always strives to ensure students have the very best learning experience in music
  • willing to contribute to, and passionate about creating opportunities for students to perform and excel in all areas of school, including enrichment activities

We are situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Haslemere. Haslemere lies in Surrey, on the border with Hampshire and West Sussex and we have excellent road and rail links to neighbouring counties. We are situated just 3 minutes’ drive off the main A3 and we are also fortunate to have a train station in Haslemere on the mainline from Portsmouth to London Waterloo. This makes us very accessible from the South Coast or outer London areas by train or car.

Salary WMAT Scale £31,350 to £47,839 (London fringe)

TLR TBC dependent on final responsibilites

Start date September 2024

Benefits Health insurance provided for all staff
