As an Electronics Engineer, you will have knowledge and experience of designing, developing, building, documenting and testing electronic systems together with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
You will be accustomed to taking the lead in devising methodical approaches to solving problems and providing guidance to more junior engineers to do the same.
You will be comfortable producing concise and consistent documentation in accordance with company processes and may be required to assist the Electronics Lead in ensuring consistency across the team.
You will be comfortable working as part of a team and will have the communication skills required to assist the Electronics Lead in maintaining information flow throughout the team.
Educated to at least degree - level or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
Technical delivery of complex electrical/electronic systems, ideally on a satellite programme (or in the Aerospace or automotive sector);
Experience in documentation for space/aerospace projects (highly desirable);
Experience in testing and test automation;
Experience in mentoring junior engineers (desirable)
Reporting into the Electronics Team Lead, your role will include working on a range of activities from detailed design, development, documentation and test through to wider spacecraft support.
Design, development, prototyping, build and test of electronic circuits and systems from initial requirements through to launch and in-orbit operations;
~ Selection and procurement of relevant components and assemblies to support design and development activities; Produce electronics documentation, e.g. Defining, performing, documenting and reviewing testing of hardware including:
~ Design of test hardware and harnessing, and definition of supporting software.
~ Debug of spacecraft electronic hardware, and test hardware and harnessing.
~ Supporting debug of test software.
~ Definition and management of subsystem/unit interfaces;
~ Working with third party suppliers to identify requirements for design, manufacture, documentation and testing of electronic sub-assemblies;
~ BAE Systems acquired In-Space Missions in 2021, and the two organisations have teamed to advance our space ambition by bringing all our space activities under a new, integrated business unit and leadership team which is focused on designing, building and operating world-class space missions for global customers. The new Space business unit now comprises approximately 180 staff located across 3 sites at Alton, Guildford and Great Baddow. BAE Systems is committed to investing in Space to deliver new-space small satellite systems and space data products combined with the security and resilience of BAE Systems expertise in telemetry tracking and command processors, waveforms, electronics, antennas and digital signal processing and analytics.
