What’s the role?

This is an ideal Graduate / Entry Level role for someone with a strong, demonstrable interest in the garment industry. As our Garment Technologist you’ll have a varied and impactful role, working closely with domestic and international suppliers, managing stock and suppliers, tests, approvals, samples and many other things.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder communication

  • Working closely with UK and overseas suppliers. Communicating via email, phone and on occasion face to face.
  • Developing relationships and capabilities of suppliers to meet Murray Uniforms business needs.
  • Working with clients to understand their requirements. On occasion communicating directly.

Quality Control

  • Ongoing management of supplier workbooks.
  • Maintain technical flats, embroidery run sheet numbers, logo images, and with guidance add target measurements, care label instructions, BOM information.
  • Checking of stock against an agreed gold seal standard or specification.
  • Raise queries and agree corrective actions with supplier.

Approvals

  • Maintenance of the client approval folders for fabric, colour and embroidery per style.
  • Manage and co-ordinate base and bulk test reports.
  • Management of a central log for Fabric testing and admin to chase the results in in line with critical path.
  • Manage and check lab dips and approval folders
  • Manage bulk fabric hangers and approval folders
  • Manage sample due dates, collect samples, book them into project plans, chase updated workbooks from suppliers, check measurements, log and communicate any queries.

Your Background and Experience

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent, or relevant experience
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of garment industry
  • Commercially Aware – Leverage opportunities to improve profitability through planning and pricing.
  • Accurate – The ERP is used by all the business who rely on accurate and current data.
  • A Good Communicator – able to communicate effectively by phone and email to internal colleagues, external customers and international suppliers.
  • Self-sufficient – Decisions will need to be made confidently, correctly and at times independently.
  • Continuous Improvement– Assessing current flows and constantly looking for ways to improve and evolve the business.
  • Prioritisation – The ability to manage a high workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines by assessing urgency vs. importance on a daily basis.
  • Be a Team Player – This role will involve interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Communication has to be considerate, professional and effective at all times.
  • Values Driven – Total commitment to Company Values at all times, every day.
  • Clear Reporting– Consistent and on time reports on key agreed KPI’s.
