We are a diverse team and welcome applicants from a wide range of clinical and health care backgrounds.Our team supports a wide range of studies from observational studies through to clinical trials ranging from phase 1, first in human- later phase 4.The role will suit somebody who has comprehensive nursing or clinical experience with our patient groups or prior clinical research experience.On successful appointment, there is a tailored comprehensive induction and training programme.
Clinical Research Practitioners: An essential part of the team | NIHR
- Study Coordination of commercial trials and large cohort studies.
- Delivery of complex investigative medicines.
- Supporting invasive and complex outpatient procedures.
- Working closely with the team to deliver the wider portfolio of studies.
- You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical studies.
- Recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data including collection and management of tissue and/or samples.
- Supporting a wide range of research clinics.
- Processing lab samples.
- Conducting assessments as per the study protocol.
- Collecting physical assessments.
- Supervising and supporting junior staff.
We are a diverse team of research nurses, practitioners and administrators. Working closely with clinicians to support and deliver research across our patient groups. The team comes from a variety of backgrounds such as Nursing, Mental Health, Psychology, Biochemistry and NHS to name a few.
The CRN: Thames Valley and South Midlands is one of 15 local Clinical Research Networks in the NIHR Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN). The NIHR CRN is the clinical research delivery arm of the NHS in England, tasked with supporting the rapid set-up and effective conduct of studies, so that researchers can gather the robust evidence needed to improve treatments for NHS patients. These local Networks drive clinical research delivery performance across the locality, and champion the role of clinical research in the NHS at every level.

- Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post
- Full driving licence/access to car
- Able to travel independently and attend conferences/training events outside the region.
- Qualified at university degree level in a Health Sciences Field or equivalent professional qualification in Health Sciences Field or relevant experience
- Evidence of post graduate learning and development
- Evidence of training within the field of Ageing, Neurology, Mental Health or Neurodegenerative Disease's
- Knowledge and experience in the field of ageing, mental health, neurological conditions, neurodegeneration and/or dementia
- Competency in clinical/ physical skills (e.g. vital signs)
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Evidence of continuous personal, professional development
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Experience in project management
- Clinical research delivery experience
- Experience in, or willingness to undertake training in additional skills physical skills such as ECG, Venepuncture, Cannulation/ cognitive assessments
- Experience in processing lab samples for research
- Self-motivated
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Strong desire to learn and develop self
- Demonstrates respect towards others
- Strong motivation to work within Division 4 research delivery
- Aligned to the Trust values.
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.

- Experience of working with the Microsoft Office package
