Cathie is a leading global offshore geoscience and geotechnical engineering consultancy specialising in geospatial analysis, marine geophysics and geotechnics, marine cables and landing, foundation engineering, pipelines, trenching and numerical analyses. We work primarily in the offshore renewable energy industry for clients who design, install and operate offshore, nearshore and onshore infrastructure. Our engineering geology discipline is in high demand due to our depth of experience, team size and reputation in the offshore industry advising high profile developers and contractors alike.
Your role will involve management of large commissions, leading a technical team supporting several project managers and acting as technical reviewer in geoscience commissions. Typical deliverables will involve desk studies, geoscience reports, interpretations, survey design and management, ground investigation reports for large windfarms, engineering assessments (cables or foundations), construction planning, tender and supervision support. You will lead research and implementation of new and standard methods, advance the best practice of the company and mentor Junior staff. You will be leading some of the current initiatives designed to deepen our knowledge in advanced laboratory testing and interpretation, database reporting, python programming, machine learning, cable landing engineering, etc. You will be given the opportunity to learn from Cathie’s position and experience in the market, exchange views with similarly skilled peers and be part of the senior team in charge of setting the next company challenges.
We are looking for a civil engineer, or engineering geologist, chartered and experienced in ground modelling in the offshore industry to join our team in Newcastle, remotely from the UK or from a European base. The successful applicant will work alongside existing senior offshore engineering staff and junior colleagues to deliver consultancy services for offshore energy projects. The desired applicant will have at least 10 to 15 years’ experience in the offshore industry (less experienced candidates may be considered in some cases) and have extensive experience managing teams, delivering geoscience commissions and geotechnical designs for the offshore industry. Offshore supervision or contractor’s experience in the renewable energy or oil and gas markets, related to offshore foundations, cable landings or cable construction projects is also sought-after.
Successfully manage, direct or review geoscience, geotechnical design and construction support commissions.
# Lead geoscience teams and work with other disciplines based in various locations, delivering long term offshore geoscience commissions.
# Participate in advancing Cathie’s state of the art database and reporting capabilities, integrating programming skills and database reporting capabilities.
# Build a significant track record in delivering quality products, outputs and work practices.
# Mentor junior staff, initiate and contribute to research and development initiatives.
# Show effective management of your team’s work, in terms of efficiency, quality and timescales.
# Chartered Engineer or Geologist with significant offshore track record
Offshore cable construction experience, ground modelling experience or geoscience team lead experience.
Track record in reviewing or directing complex reports and geoscience commissions.
In depth awareness of key industry software
