Role

GCA deliver services over 6 days per week and throughout Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire

Role:

Elevate is one service with two routes to employability: Elevate Glasgow PSP and the Recovery Employability Service.This role is based within the Elevate Glasgow PSP team. The Elevate PSP team work with those in the earlierstages of their employability journey working on building up confidence, training, education and volunteering.Elevate offer a person-centred approach to individuals in their employability journey. This team are also oftenout in the community networking with our partners within the drug and alcohol sector.

Elevate is an employability service for people in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. We are delighted that we arenow able to extend the service to include aftercare provision for those in work to include those affected bypoor mental health or have experience of homelessness or the criminal justice service as well as those inrecovery.

The Employability Support Worker will make a real impact to individuals’ day to day lives as they uniquely tailortheir personal development, offer emotional and practical support and set realistic goals as part of theirjourney to employability opportunities.

About the Project:

SDF has been funded by the Scottish Government to deliver a project ensuring the opinions and experience of peopleliving with drug problems, ‘the voice of living experience’ in Scotland informs and influences policy and thedevelopment of services across Scotland.

The focus of the Development Officer’s work is to recruit, train, support and sustain local and regional networks ofpeople with current living experience of problem drug use / being in treatment. Regional representatives willform a national group which will inform the drug treatment and care sector, the government and the wider publicabout the experience of drug use, accessing and being in treatment and other support services.

About the Post Holder:

We encourage applications from people with their own direct lived experience of problem drug use who can use theirexperience and their own peer networks in developing these roles. As the role requires the post holder to engagewith a diverse range of people with living experience, it is essential that applicants are knowledgeable ofproblem use of various substances and are knowledgeable and supportive of recovery including having a soundunderstanding of harm reduction, all available treatment and all forms of mutual aid.

Street Connect is a Christian organisation with a mission to offer hope and opportunity of recovery for peopledisadvantaged by addiction, homelessness, and poor mental health.

As our Fundraising & Marketing Manager you can contribute to profound and lasting changes in the lives of highlyvulnerable individuals. In 2022/23 working with our church partners, Street Connect benefitted over 1500 peopleoverall with 135 individuals receiving formal key work support and we supported 19 entries to residentialrehabilitation. Our participants report stability and improvements not only in their recovery from drug andalcohol problems, but also in their living skills and situations, social skills, and relationships, and in theirphysical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of StreetConnect’s income generation strategy in order to raise funds to support the work of Street Connect. They arealso responsible for the development and implementation of Street Connect’s communication strategy to ensure theeffective branding, marketing, and promotion of Street Connect.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager will be responsible for leading, managing and continuously developing thefundraising and communications teams.

Location: Hybrid working between Street Connect’s office in Glasgow city centre, home and visiting other projectlocations.

The team supports people develop their Recovery after reaching a level of stability.

No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible,curious and a good listener are key.

Responsibilities

About the role:

  • Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recoveryjourney
  • Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
  • Reducing drugand alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
  • Promoting carer, service user andcommunity involvement
  • Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
  • Working with serviceusers to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promotingrecovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination
  • Research, design and prepare subject matterand materials for groups / pods.
  • Deliver structured content within group settings to service users atvarious stages of recovery
  • Engage with debriefing and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups/podshave taken place, reviewing progress and identifying concerns with service users
  • Tailor specificworkshops around the needs of the service users, such as: anger management, sleep disorders, relationships,etc

About you:

  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similarfield
  • Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, such as conflict orchallenging behaviour.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good ITskills
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritisingskills
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and goodpractice
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work inpartnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability tomanage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
  • Understand theimportance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessarysafeguards
  • Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skillsand to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others

The Role

This role is a Service Manager position for a structured Dayhab in the city centre of Aberdeen. You will report tothe Operations Lead and you will provide leadership and support to the Therapeutic Practitioners within theDayhab and the Team Manager within the Recovery Housing Service.

You will support the Operations Lead and wider colleagues with the development of the brand-new service(s) inAberdeen City. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of compliance with both internal and CareInspectorate standards of care. You will be supported to find innovative ways to support people in theirrecovery whilst ensuring your service delivers evidence-based practice. You will ensure that the interventionsare appropriate, innovative, and fully meet the needs of clients, the organisation and commissioners.

The Service

Due to new funding from the Scottish Government, this brand new service will be based in Aberdeen City centre and iscurrently being procured. This community based service will be framed around our Residential TherapeuticCommunity model, providing a structured day service. This flexible service will run a structured group workprogramme in addition to 1 to 1 support, including a range of meaningful activities to build recovery capital.Ran by a small team of 3 staff with support from volunteers and peer mentors. You will also work closely andcollaborate with our new Residential service based in Alford and the new Housing team also based in Aberdeencity centre.
