About the World Energy Council

The World Energy Council is the world's oldest independent and impartial community of energy leaders and practitioners. Through our Humanising Energy vision, we involve more people and communities in accelerating clean and inclusive energy transitions in all world regions.

Formed in 1923, the Council convenes diverse interests from across the full energy ecosystem with over 3,000 member organisations and a presence in nearly 100 countries. Our global network draws from governments, private and state corporations, academia and civil society, as well as current and future energy leaders. We effectively collaborate on impact programmes and inform local, regional and global energy agendas in support of our enduring mission: to promote the sustainable use and supply of energy for the benefit of all people.

Position Overview:

This role is responsible for overseeing account management and driving business development initiatives. The position plays a pivotal role in fostering strategic partnerships to advance the Council's mission in the global energy sector.

Accountabilities:

  • Revenue Partner Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of existing partners, working closely with teams across the organisation to ensure their needs are met and addressing any concerns.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for deeper collaboration and growth within the current partner network.
  • Business Development:
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the partner portfolio, identifying and onboarding new organisations aligned with the World Energy Council's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create compelling proposals and presentations for potential partners.
  • Strategic Planning:
  • Work closely with the Head of Patrons to define and implement the overall strategy for the Partner Team, aligning with the Council's mission and vision.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and potential challenges.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Partners Team and ensure regular tracking and reporting of team achievements.
  • Provide regular updates to the leadership team on the status of partnerships and business development efforts.

Background & Profile:

  • A good first degree in a relevant discipline: most likely business, marketing, economics, or politics. MBA is a plus.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful partner management and new business generation, preferably within the energy sector.
  • Excellent English fluency (written and spoken) with other language fluency highly regarded.
  • Experience in researching, market assessment and development, and drafting complex documents and contract's
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality and creative presentations and proposals to potential new partners/business.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skill: experience in engaging with different and diverse audiences.
  • Sound project management and administration skills with good teamwork capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience.
  • Business acumen and a good understanding of account management processes.
  • High degree of IT proficiency.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Highly organised with careful attention to detail and the ability to reassess priorities to ensure timely delivery, to plan and prioritise conflicting tasks.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at various organisational level's
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align business goals with the Council's mission.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, appreciating the complexities of a cross-cultural and international workplace with a highly collaborative approach.
  • First-class relationship and project management skills.
  • Results-driven and team-orientated.

Location: UK / Remote.

Contract: Full time / one year renewable.

Salary: Up to £40K pending experience.
