In order to reduce the computational complexity of your methods you are encouraged to take advantage of Apple silicon technologies such as the Image Signal Processor (ISP) or the Apple Neural Engine (ANE).Our team works at the intersection of software and hardware, developing real time algorithms required for camera operation and having major impact on the final image and video quality. Our team has a history of delivering solutions running on Apple products, for example, Smart HDR or tone mapping for HDR video rendering Our interdisciplinary team works closely with many other teams including silicon design, camera hardware and camera software teams to deliver industry leading consumer imaging devices. The work environment fosters innovation, rapid iteration and awards independence and creativity in solving engineering problems. Are you ready to help us deliver the next groundbreaking Apple products?

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of color science, image processing, optics, computer vision
  • Familiarity with a modern digital camera image processing pipeline and the Image Signal Processor (ISP)
  • Experience in image processing algorithms such as: auto white balance, tone mapping, auto exposure and high dynamic range rendering.
  • Practical experience with machine learning and deep learning algorithms
  • Programming skills in C/C++, Matlab, Python
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Description

As an algorithm developer, you will be responsible for inventing new capture side tone mapping algorithms impacting the rendering of assets captured with Apple cameras. You will oversee algorithm development across all stages of the cycle; from the initial idea and proof of concept work through on-device implementation all the way to field testing, validation and surprising and delighting our customers. You will be encouraged to think holistically, and explore approaches that can range from software-based, to those requiring a dedicated hardware component. The solutions you design will need to meet computational complexity, execution time, and power consumption constraints. To accomplish your tasks successfully you will be expected to collaborate with other team members and other teams across software and hardware organizations.
