Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer Salary/Grade: £44,100
- £Larne (hybrid) Benefits: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Up to 12% bonus Contributory pension scheme

Join our team to help build a better, more sustainable world for future generations The opportunity We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Global Solutions Engineering Group at Caterpillar (N.This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within the Caterpillar Electric Power engineering team.
The Global Solutions Engineering Group is responsible for the development of design to order customer specific products.
This includes new product development, technical support for operations, processing of engineering changes, investigation & resolution of product quality issues.
This role provides a great opportunity for a Senior Engineer to develop their abilities within an experienced team working on projects for various export markets.
For the right candidate, this role will include opportunities to travel for commissioning and product support.
As the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will primarily carry out the concept and design of electrical engineering products for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, best cost, durability, quality, and serviceability.
You will take responsibility for most special projects and delegate work to other engineers, when appropriate.
The projects you'll work on involve complex designs, with associated problems for which no precedents may exist, to meet customer specifications.
You will be expected to complete projects with limited supervision.
What you will do: Design of controls and protection for generators, motors and related equipment.
Take the technical lead on projects with respect to the electrical design.
Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
Provide direction to other engineers in the development of project drawings.
Review and approve project drawings.
To participate in the training and career development of new designers.
Assist with product testing and/or evaluation when appropriate.
Assist with the development and updating of procedures, design guides and instruction manuals.
Experience in leading electrical design projects such as electrical installations, including design through to build and validation.
The ability to create and interpret engineering drawings, calculations, risk assessments and technical documentation.
Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Experience in the use of AutoCad, ePlan, or similar drawing packages.
Performs manipulations on design objects, such as changing projections and managing drawing layers.
Product Design and Development: Supervises the management of multiple electrical design projects which are specific to customer requirements.
Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.
Addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments and shifts priorities Works with or leads others to re-prioritise work and reschedule commitments as necessary.
A University Degree in an Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
Additional Information: This role will include opportunities to travel for commissioning and product support.
