Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire financial strategy and operations of MiAlgae. You will lead the finance function, supporting strategic decisions that drive business growth while ensuring financial stability and compliance. This role will involve collaborating with the executive team to secure funding for expanding MiAlgae’s production sites, as well as ensuring that financial risks are effectively managed as the company scales.
As Finance Director, you will design and implement financial policies and systems that support the company’s expansion strategy, track financial performance, and ensure the overall financial health of the business. You will also be a key player in fundraising efforts, working to secure both equity and non-dilutive financing to drive MiAlgae’s mission forward.
You will be involved in developing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company's financial commitments are met and will develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.
Financial Strategy and Planning: Lead the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy, ensuring alignment with MiAlgae’s growth objectives including treasury and general cash management.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for internal use and external stakeholders.
Funding and Capital Management: Lead efforts to raise equity and non-dilutive funding, including debt financing, grants, and other innovative financing mechanisms. Risk Management: Identify financial risks and create strategies to mitigate them, ensuring MiAlgae is financially secure as it scales. Cost Management: Oversee cost management strategies, ensuring profitability and financial sustainability through effective cost control measures and procurement processes.
Tax and Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all financial regulations and tax obligations. Maintain accurate financial records and lead the relationship with external auditors.
Business Partnering: Act as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director and executive team, providing financial insights and supporting decision-making across the business.
Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Qualities

Leadership: Lead by example, guiding and coaching to achieve the best from your peer group and reporting structure.
Proven experience as a Finance Director or senior finance leader, within a high-growth or start-up environment.
Strong understanding of corporate finance, financial planning, and financial risk management. Experience in fundraising, including both equity and non-dilutive financing (debt, grants, etc.).
Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and corporate tax matters.
Proven experience in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Strong commercial awareness and business acumen, with the ability to align financial strategies with company goals.
BSc/BA in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or relevant field;
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., 32 days holiday entitlement.
