Job Purpose

Are you a qualified Health & Safety Professional with a keen understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations? If so, join the groundbreaking Hinkley Point C project as an Industrial Safety Advisor . This is a unique chance to be part of one of the most ambitious and vital projects in the UK's energy sector, playing a crucial role in the operational phase of HPC.

Nature & Scope of the Role

As a Pre-Operations Industrial Safety Advisor, you'll support the development and delivery of Industrial Safety Management Arrangements for the Hinkley Point C operational site. You'll be integral in establishing and promoting a strong safety culture as we transition from construction to operational arrangements.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Guide our training team to ensure comprehensive industrial safety training for all operational site members.
  • Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with the HPC construction site and Nuclear Generation Industrial Safety Team.
  • Support the development of industrial safety procedures for the operational site.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to support the development of safety arrangements from construction, through commissioning, and into operations.
  • Provide industrial safety advice from an operational station's perspective to teams designing facilities and equipment.
  • Foster the creation of a robust safety culture for the operational site.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

We're seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and communicative Industrial Safety Advisor. Your solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and experience in implementing effective safety arrangements will be crucial in maintaining a safe and secure workplace environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in participating in or leading industrial health and safety continual improvement projects/initiatives.
  • Experience in developing and implementing management system policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Familiarity with working in high-hazard industries such as nuclear, utilities, oil & gas, chemical, construction, or manufacturing.
  • Clear communication skills at all organizational levels, both verbally and in written reports.
  • Membership of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) and/or EIT or equivalent, working towards Chartership.
  • Experience conducting audits and investigations.
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent is advantageous, though not essential.
