They will be responsible for welding and fabricating a varied range of products in the general ranges of 3 – 25 mm thick materials for manufacturing purposes. They will ensure that all manufacturing tasks are completed within the assigned time frames and to the highest standards. In doing so, they must use welding equipment, measuring equipment, cutting equipment, hand tools, techniques etc to fabricate products. They will rely on specifications, verbal instructions, and technical drawings / advice for manufacture.
Work to engineering drawings and ensure that the implementation of welding specifications is achieved.
Determine the required equipment and best welding procedure, applying knowledge of diverse techniques.
Perform efficient welding of various metal objects using such processes as Metal Inert Gas, Metal Active Gas, Manual Metal Arc or Tungsten Inert Gas
Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks.
Foundation / Position Requirements
Good numeracy and mechanical skills
Proven experience in general fabrication
Computer literate
Adherence to health and safety policies
Time served apprenticeship (Desirable)
Possess an NVQ or CSCS certification (Desirable)
Forklift truck and overhead crane experience (Desirable)
Experience in the assembly of a range of products (Desirable)
