Role.

The Governance Lead is responsible for governing and assuring a small portfolio of 1-3 projects within DCC, ensuring operations carries out the planned change projects on time, with qualified resources to produce quality outcomes to meet DCC’s customer expectations. They are the day-to-day lead for operational governance at a project level, escalating decisions to the Head of Operational Change Governance as required.

What will you be doing?

 Influencing internal stakeholders to ensure our alignment to operational and assurance projects that influence our customer needs.

Contributing to the overall team strategy as a member of the team, as well as functional Business Planning as required.

Proactively lead and manage the service governance for projects assigned to you and ensure sustainable change is optimally delivered, including gating pre-reviews and formal quality gates.

Oversee the performance of activities related to accepting new requests, triage, expediting requests to the correct change channel and information re-prioritisation decisions.

Maintain strong status tracking of performance measures demonstrating value for money, identifying potential cost optimisation and articulating/enhancing customer value/benefit.

Work with other relevant operations departments to feed into the demand forecasting process. Collate this information and support the Operational Governance team to manage demand for the team.

Overseeing the collation, monitoring, managing, and reporting of all operational RAID related to change delivery items. Driving behaviours to proactively minimise risks turning into issues.

What we are looking for.

  • Able to build working relationships with internal stakeholders, ask them questions in a sensitive way, and communicate relevant information effectively and clearly.
  • Understands the basic principles of project management, including setting milestones, dependencies, and planning resources. Produce accurate work in accordance with specified requirements, objectives, and timelines.
  • Able to use Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to an acceptable standard, including producing presentations in an acceptable corporate style, producing properly templated Word documents, and handling simple data stored in Excel.
  • Able to carry out demand management activities within a specific function, technical area or project.
  • Identify risks and vulnerabilities, assesses their impact and probability, develop mitigation strategies and reports upward.
  • Manages internal and external stakeholder expectations effectively by proactively engaging with stakeholders, giving accurate and relevant information. Leverages this responsibility to develop positive working relationships with staff from other teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; conveys and exchanges thoughts, ideas, and information effectively through various mediums; all communication is evidence-based, logically consistent, and has clarity. Able to present information as part of in-person meetings and virtual meetings effectively.
  • Supports negotiations with an understanding of basic negotiation techniques; anticipates objections and develops responses.
  • Putting complex technical concepts into simple language.
