This role is pivotal in shaping the future for children and young people by developing robust policy responses and coordinating projects that influence strategic decisions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee policy, guidance, and legislation for children’s services.
  • Coordinate strategy and policy functions, ensuring alignment between the Children and Young People’s Futures directorate and Devon Safeguarding Children Partnership.
  • Support strategic commissioning and operational colleagues with policy formulation and changes.
  • Lead policy audits to ensure commissioning approaches meet strategic objectives.
  • Represent the Council at various levels, adhering to all relevant regulations.
Requirements:
  • Management experience in social care or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of children’s policy and legislation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in social policy or a related discipline.
  • Desirable: Master’s degree or advanced training, project management qualification.
