Child Health Programme Lead

We’re looking for an experienced Child Health Programme Lead to join an important charity working for the benefit of children, young people and families in the London Borough of Enfield and surrounding areas.

Position : Child Health Community Champions Lead

Location: The post holder will work across the London Boroughs of Enfield and Haringey however, the primary office is based in Edmonton.

Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week

Contract: Fixed Term contract until 31 March 2025 (maybe extended)

Salary: Actual gross salary per annum: £13,700.00 plus 6% employer pension contribution.

About the role:

The successful candidate, employed as the Child Health Community Champions Lead, will work with our delivery partners The Bridge Renewal Trust, North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust (NMUH), and other agencies to empower parents from the most deprived wards in Enfield and Haringey to increase their confidence, create networks of peer-to-peer support for parents and improve appropriate use of services across health and social care (reducing A&E visits). It will build on the pilot workshops delivered by NMUH to improve the confidence of parents through basic child health and family wellbeing workshops.

The Child Health Community Champions Lead will work across Enfield and Haringey to train and work with volunteers across the local community to become Child Health Champions. Our fantastic team of Champions will reach out to new parents and develop support groups with them. We will deliver free child health courses across Enfield and Haringey, facilitate parents to join peer support networks and develop a programme of ABC Parents sessions on family health and wellbeing while providing invaluable resources to improve community engagement.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Supporting professional development through carrying out training needs assessments of the CHCCs and identifying appropriate training
  • Alongside the Project Coordinator, planning workshops incorporating CHCCs strengths
  • Holding regular meetings and quarterly Wellbeing sessions with CHCCs
  • Being responsible for the recruitment and deployment of creche workers where required

About you:

You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and caring individual who understands community engagement and has experience in successfully managing a community project and providing group leadership.

The Child Health Champions Lead will work as a member of the ABC Parents Program Team based at NMUH.

Key skills required for this role:

  • Significant experience of working at a similar level in one or more community-based projects. Experience gained within health, public health, social care or voluntary and community sectors would be desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer management, including recruitment and support with continuous professional development.
  • Experience in planning and delivering workshops in complex and challenging environments. Experience in delivering services to parents would be desirable.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, preparing service reports including feedback and collating data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as unsupervised, using own initiative where required.
  • Proficient ICT skills using programs including Microsoft Excel, Office, PowerPoint, intranet and Internet, MS Teams, Zoom, and social media.
  • Demonstrated capabilities to prioritise and manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight timescales.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
