We are currently looking to recruit a motivated Staff Nurse to join our team based on our 15 bed Welney Ward at the Princess of Wales hospital in Ely.
The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under pressure at times. This post is open to Registered nurses with the right attributes to enhance our team.
The post holder will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs of junior registered and unregistered staff and ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation. You will ensure that effective communication pathways exist, and act within your sphere of responsibility. - As key members of the rehabilitation team, the Registered Nurses provide a high standard or individualised, holistic and evidence-based patient focused nursing using the nursing process. The Registered Nurses also act as a vital link between patients, carers, relatives and therapists to ensure there is a consistent focus on patient outcomes.
- Ensure the delivery of high quality, patient focused care and treatment.
- Ensure Expected Date of Discharge (EDD) is set through negotiation between patient, carer, team and internal/external agencies to achieve a safe and effective discharge which closely meets the patients needs.
- As a reflective practitioner, actively promote reflective practice within the team questioning clinical practice, taking appropriate action where gaps in knowledge or experience may compromise the health and safety of others.
- The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.
- Provide patients and their families /carers with information on standards they should expect from the team.
- Registered Nurse
- NMC registration
- Mentor qualification / ENB 998 or equivalent
- Post graduate qualification relating to ward specialism.
- Experience of in-patient services and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience relating to ward specialism
- Awareness of safeguarding issues and responsibilities under relevant legislation
- Commitment to and understanding of evidence based practice
- Basic understanding of legislation relating to care including - Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Act
- Positive approach to older people
- Recognise peoples right to privacy and dignity, treating every person with respect
- Willingness to be flexible in approach and attitude
- Physically able to undertake a demanding role safely, as and when required
- Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision
- Effective communication skills both verbally and written, including IT literacy (MS Office).
- Enthusiastic and has the ability to participate in full rotational shifts
- Able to keep calm and respond appropriately under pressure
- Ability to use own initiative, to enable contribution to a multi-disciplinary team approach
- Decision making, delegation and problem-solving skills
- Level of good assertiveness skills
