Under general supervision, the Benefits Analyst position is responsible for reconciliations, streamlining processes, participating in testing system processes, and benefits compliance. Assists in the resolution of associate benefit inquiries and claims resolution issues. Fully engages with the operation of the HRIS system as it relates to benefits administration, reports, and system processes.

  • Analyzes and understands the flow of employee benefit data and develops internal procedures and efficiencies.
  • Actively participates in the design and testing of the enrollment system, the Open Enrollment process, and benefits Self-Service. Develops functional test scripts to adequately test system functionality.
  • Participates in testing the HRIS benefits module to support accurate benefit reporting and ad-hoc data requirements. Develops an understanding of Life Events and the benefits enrollment process.
  • Analyzes and merges data files utilizing VLOOKUPS and pivot tables. Initiates and monitors various interface files and partners with Business Analysts and benefit vendors on escalated system issues, as appropriate.
  • Reconciles, approves, and ensures timely and accurate payment of all benefits billing invoices. Works closely with the Finance/Accounting/Payroll Departments and researches discrepancies between enrollment and deductions. Participates in accounting audits as it relates to benefits. Ensures required deadlines are met in order to achieve on-time payments.
  • Participates in reviewing, researching, and correcting error reports generated from benefit vendors.
  • Reviews and implements new processes and procedures and updates benefits forms, templates and policies. Assists with day-to-day benefits administration.
  • Monitors the employee enrollment processes, including annual Open Enrollment and new hire benefits.
  • Participates with the administration of the 401(k) Retirement plan.
  • Identifies the root cause of issues, develops effective solutions, and determines the proper course of action to resolve customer service issues.
  • Assists with other HR and benefits related duties and projects as needed.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience, plus minimum 3 years benefits analyst, design and/or benefits administration experience
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences
  • Exceptional analytic abilities and attention to detail demonstrated through prior work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations, including all aspects of the Affordable Care Act, ERISA, and its recordkeeping provisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority assignments concurrently.
  • Teamwork - showing a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • General understanding of Accounting principles.
  • Experience with multiple insurance billing reconciliations.
  • Familiar with administering self-insured and fully insured plans, HSAs, FSAs and 401(k) plans.
  • Experience working in a multi-state and multi-site environment.
  • Experience with HRIS applications (experience with UKG a plus).
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (VLOOKUPS, pivot tables), Word, and Outlook.

Physical Demands:

Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance.
