Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - PART TIME (job share)

School: Single Form Entry Primary School

Start Date: Week commencing Monday 2nd September 2024 until July 2025 (full academic year)

Veritas Education are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and hard-working primary school in Lancaster. This position will be part time (job share), supporting a pupil one to one in Year 6 with highly challenging behaviours.

MAPA (MANAGEMENT OF ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL AGGRESSION) TRAINING OR TEAM TEACH TRAINING IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS POSITION

Provide support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom setting.
Assist the teacher in implementing EHCP and behaviour management strategies.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils, including those with challenging behaviours.
Implement interventions to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to assess students' needs and progress.
Collaborate with colleagues to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
Monitor and record pupils' progress, behaviours, and achievements, and provide feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing updates on pupils' progress and behaviour.
Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behaviour management and supporting pupils with SEN.

Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent
MAPA (MANAGEMENT OF ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL AGGRESSION) TRAINING OR TEAM TEACH TRAINING IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS POSITION
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably in a PRU/educational setting.
Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to implement effective strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviours.
Understanding of different SEN conditions and the impact they may have on learning and behaviour.
Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced classroom environment.
Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are desirable.
Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality for all students.
