Job Title: Woodwork Machinist /CNC Operator.
Reports to: Production Manager Job Overview: You will beresponsible for operating woodworking machinery like a CNC Edge bander or a PUR edge bander to produce worktops and other laminated components.
The role involves interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate materials, setting up machines, and ensuring that the finished product meets high-quality standards while always following health and safety guidelines.
Machine Operation: Set up and operate woodwork machines such as Homag CNC machines, Homag PUR Edge bander and Biesse CNC Edge bander and other specialized equipment.
Quality Control: Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, ensuring they meet the design and dimensional tolerances.
Understand and read CAD drawings: Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches and production plans to determine machining processes and material requirements.
Maintain and troubleshoot machines, keeping them clean, calibrated, and in good working condition.
Material Handling: Select and prepare relevant materials always checking on quality.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to workplace safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guarding.
Team Collaboration: Work with production team members to ensure smooth workflow and meet project deadlines.
Maintain logs of machine settings, job progress, and maintenance tasks, etc.
Skills and Qualifications: Experience: Proven experience as a woodwork machinist or in a related woodworking role.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with various woodworking machines and techniques, including CNC machinery.
Ability to produce a high-quality finish.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machinery or production issues efficiently.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to machinery, factory work and general housekeeping.
Preferred Qualifications: Vocational training or certification in woodworking or machine operation.
Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery.
Hours of work & Salary: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5.Competitive salary offered rate will be based on individuals experience.
