We are looking for an Associate Software Engineer (Back End) to join one of our engineering teams here in Sheffield. Working as part of the Pendo Listen engineering group you will build tools that help our customers transform product feedback into insights they can use to improve their own software experiences.

Built in Go on top of Google Cloud Platform, Pendo’s back end architecture processes hundreds of thousands of events per second, integrating with various third party tools and services including Google Gemini and OpenAI GPT-4 to create insights from qualitative customer data.
As a software engineer you will be joining a strong team who love to build systems that scale in a collaborative environment between engineering, product, and design.

The role is hybrid remote/office based in our Sheffield office in Kelham Island.

Working in the office 3 times a week

Role Responsibilities

  • Write maintainable, high-quality code that requires few iterations
  • Gain a deep understanding of the company's technology stack using Go and GCP
  • Take ownership of tasks and projects within the team, collaborating with peers to break down work into manageable components
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, refinement sessions, and other team activities
  • Effectively communicating ideas, concerns, and potential solutions
  • Exhibit a growth mindset by demonstrating self-awareness and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other team members to plan, design, and implement new product features
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, product-led environment, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to learn new technologies quickly

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field - or equivalent experience
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture, including APIs, requests, databases, caching, and related concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have built a web application for a non-trivial number of users
  • Experience with cloud based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with unit testing, performance testing and/or automated integration testing
  • Familiarity with build tools, CI/CD and development workflows
  • Familiarity with Go or similar server side object oriented language (eg Java, C++, C#)

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide.

The expected salary range for this role to be performed in Sheffield, UK, is £30k - £36k .

Individual pay rate decisions, including offers made within and over the expected salary range, are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
