Full Time, 37 hours per week (term time only) 39 weeks per annum
Marland is a successful all age (KS1-4) special school for students with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Peters Marland, Barnstaple and Central Bideford and has just opened a new 'Secondary Day School' (Yr7-Yr11) in East of the Water, Bideford for 40 students. This post will be based at Marland Secondary School, Barnstaple.
The overall Marland group of schools are currently graded as 'Good' by Ofsted Education, with the residential care provision separately judged to be 'Outstanding' by Ofsted Social Care inspectorate. Our overarching ethos is based around personalisation and meeting the needs of each individual child. We utilise 'THRIVE' based social and emotional development at the core of everything we do.
You will deliver a highly rewarding Outdoor Learning & Sports curriculum to small groups of Marland students. This will include delivering or facilitating these high quality learning opportunities through a broad range of off-site and on-site activities. This curriculum will be aimed at developing the social, emotional and subject skills of each student, including self-esteem, risk assessment and management, teamwork, interpersonal and leadership potential. This will be achieved through a varied outdoor learning / experiential programme.
Ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
Training and ongoing professional development opportunities are offered to all staff, as are potential promotion opportunities due to the ongoing expansion of our popular schools.
Visits to the school are strongly encouraged and welcomed in line with current safety guidelines. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
