United Kingdom Wifinity Full time

About us:

Wifinity was founded in 2007 to solve a problem—our armed forces were struggling with reliable connectivity. While living in barracks, often in remote locations, ordering a landline and booking in an engineer just wasn’t an option.

And that problem isn’t exclusive to the military, either. Students living in University accommodation, families visiting holiday resorts, or living in shared accommodation and retirement communities.

Conventional home broadband doesn’t always work for them.

Wifinity is different. We offer the same benefits as traditional broadband, such as super-fast speeds, WiFi, and secure and private networks, but none of the downsides. We even offer Pay As You Go and flexible contracts, so customers only pay for what they need without hefty penalties or long contract terms.

We take the complexity out of connectivity.

The role purpose

In this role you will be responsible for Design Authority team and driving the creation and governance of Wifinity designed solutions through internal and external peer review. You will provide an informed and authoritative sign off function regarding the outputs required of any technical external survey resources.

The role includes an assessment and approval of the commercial impact of design decisions and produces customer facing delivery costs for external approval. You will act as the technical decision lead for a number of Design Authority positions when facing more complex designs. The team's deliverables are to maintain a design led business approach to maximise consistency and drive ongoing performance improvements. You will contribute to wider design developments and how these are disseminated through external survey resource and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Joining our Design Authority team, you will be responsible for the creation of designs and approval of outsourced design work for new and existing business opportunities.

You will work with other members of the team to help ensure the continued successful delivery of approved Wifinity solutions to its customers. You will act as an escalation path for design queries and more significant design choices.

Your day to day role will consist of the following responsibilities, you may be required to carry out further responsibilities at the company's discretion.

  • Supporting the wider DA team members
  • Scheduling and balancing workload across the DA team
  • Act as escalation point for internal design decisions with peers.
  • Managing internally allocated survey resources and being accountable for their task completion.
  • Provide approval sign off on major design approach changes
  • Provide approval and sign off on Design Authority process changes
  • Provide wider programme teams with regular status updates where DA involvement is integral to a wider programme of works.
  • Be the design authority SME for internal and external project teams.
  • Focused approval stage within a governance process ensuring that design outputs across projects remain consistent with a Wifinity proposed solution.
  • Maintaining the delivery of Wifinity design standards with survey resources.
  • Creating and amending design document templates to ensure a consistent design output.
  • Feedback design challenges and a work with the engineering team to address potential design flaws.
  • Complete wired network designs in conjunction with Wifinity network deployment strategies.
  • Design peer review of both internal and external survey outputs and deliver constructive feedback to maintain a consistent high output standard.
  • Educate internal and external teams on Wifinity best practices and ongoing design standard changes through remote and onsite interactions.
  • Complete site surveys and site visits to test and confirm efficient output-based survey techniques are being adhered to and driving the correct results
  • Produce and review accurate Bill of material documents and associated cost models.
  • Maintaining good industry knowledge of best practices and market trends.
  • Maintaining ongoing knowledge of Wifinity solution vendors and products.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of survey tools and methods.

Customer Driven:

  • Identify and assess customers’ needs and ensure the right Wifinity solution has been applied to meet them balancing design with proposed budget.
  • Build sustainable relationships and trust with customers through open and interactive communication
  • Handle customer interactions, providing evidence-based solutions and working within any external governance systems.

About you…

You will be an experienced individual with the ability to work proactively on tasks and understand the full scope of a problem, working to a solution without the need for continuous direction.

You can prioritise tasks within your workload with several competing factors such as time, project dependencies and ongoing programme deliverables whilst maintaining an ongoing output rate. You can balance supporting others within this role in technical leadership whilst still completing task-based aspects of the role. You are confident in making technical design decisions and with a ‘can do’ approach and an appreciation for their place within a wider programme of works.

You value quality and design excellence and can articulate solutions demonstrating this in a manner that can be understood by a varied audience. This extends across several disciplines and elements that formulate a Wifinity design; internal wireless, switching, physical infrastructure, external wireless.

You are comfortable working within a team and highly motivated when working on tasks personally. You should be comfortable with UK travel and working remotely, both at home and on location at customer sites.

You should find striving to provide an internal customer or external customer driven approach to solutions highly rewarding.

We are looking for someone that:

  • Is available for UK/Abroad Travel
  • Maintains a full UK driving licence
  • Maintains an interest in associated technologies
  • Can conduct physical site attendance

Your experience…

  • A number of years' experience within Wired or Wireless Networking
  • Strong knowledge of Routing & Switching
  • Strong knowledge of Wireless protocols and Standards
  • A number of years' experience of Wireless survey knowledge with Ekahau or equivalent
  • Strong Knowledge of Cabling standards & other applicable physical network installation standards. (Fire Regulations, JSP etc.)
  • Working knowledge of multiple industry vendors
  • Working knowledge of delivering WAN (Wide Area Network) circuits and LAN (Local Area Network) solutions
  • Competency using reporting tools – iAuditor, Ekahau, Word, Visio etc.
  • Competency in operating ticketing systems for work allocation

It would be nice to also have…

  • Ruckus Wireless Experience
  • Outdoor PtP (Point to Point) & PtMp (Point to Multi Point) Experience
  • Cambium Vendor Experience
  • Ruckus Wired Experience
  • Physical installation Experience
  • Commercial experience

Qualifications

Desirable

  • Installation and project delivery experience
  • Ekahau Survey Accreditation
  • Physical infrastructure installation standards

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package which includes an ‘Annual Leave Buy & Sell Scheme’, in addition to a remote first working environment, allowing our employees more flexibility when it comes to the importance of a healthy work / life balance. Please be aware that the successful applicant to this role will receive an offer which is subject to the satisfactory completion of a basic level DBS check.

At Wifinity we pride ourselves on being an equal opportunities employer, with an inclusive culture who do not discriminate and whose hiring outcomes and commitments are based upon your talent and experience.
