5 hours/week, typically worked within standard office/production hours. Once or twice a month night shift cover will be required as necessitated by the R&D Programme Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Fermentation R&D, you will be working on your own R&D projects around process development and optimisation. You will also have experience working on your own projects from start to finish.

To lead Fermentation R&D projects, plan and execute relevant experiments, perform troubleshooting and process optimisations in a scale down models with the aim of subsequent implementation at production scale.
To communicate the progress of on-going Fermentation R&D projects, draft project reports, contribute to project meetings, and present R&D results in written and oral formats as appropriate
Analysis of the company’s fermentation process and improve optimisation and standardisation.
To contribute to the day-to-day running and management of an R&D laboratory.

Educated to a BSc, MSc or PhD level in a Scientific or Engineering related discipline and a relevant number of years industrial experience.
Technical expertise in microbiology and bacterial fermentation is essential
Project management or supervisor experience desired
