Job Description:

Role Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced VMware Technical Consultant, specialising in VMware SDN, to join our Cloud Solutions team and play a key role in supporting our continued growth plans. These plans aim to establish our position as a global VMware Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Ingram Micro. As an Ingram Micro company, Comms-care already holds a strong global position as a reliable and capable VMware service provider for our channel partners, VMware, and Ingram Micro. The role will include post sales technical consultancy, undertaking delivery and implementation engagements, as well as providing assistance to some pre-sales qualification, bid response and design to consultancy engagements. The ideal candidate will have had two or more years’ experience in a similar consulting type role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Working in close collaboration with the VMware Practice, and wider Cloud Solutions team, the core responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with qualification of designs and opportunities
  • Attend and present at customer opportunities and workshop sessions
  • Provide appropriate contributions to Statement of Works and Invitations to Tender
  • Keep up-to-date with current and future technologies, products and strategies
  • Build a solid skills foundation in chosen subject matter
  • Build and enhance relationships with peers
  • Continue development of consultative skills
  • Undertake individual consultancy assignments or work on a project as part of a larger team analysing customer requirements, gathering and analysing data and recommending solutions
  • Technically manage the design and implementation of solutions, with the exception of those which are high risk/large scale
  • Ensure consulting assignments are undertaken consistently and with quality
  • Highlight technical risks so that any Comms-care exposure to commercial loss can be minimised
  • Produce and update assignment documentation as required
  • Ensure that hand over to relevant support organisation is successfully completed
  • Provide technical support as requested, for internal and external customers
  • Identify other Comms-care service and sales opportunities

Qualification and Desired Experience

  • VCAP – Network Virtualization Deploy
  • VCAP – Network Virtualization Design
  • VCDX - Network Virtualization

Required Experience (Design, Deployment and Transformation)

  • VMware Network Virtualization (NSX) including migration from NSX-V to NSX-T
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • vSphere Foundation (VVF)

Desirable Experience

  • NSX integration with VMware Cloud Director
  • NSX Advance Load Balancer (AVI)
  • VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS)
  • Azure VMware Solution (AVS)
  • Aria Operations for Networks

Knowledge, Skills, and Characteristics

  • Experience in a Technical Consultant type role
