Graduate Soil Surveyor

LDC are a leading environmental consultancy specialising in soils and land drainage, in particular where agricultural land is impacted by development work. With projects including offshore wind, hydrogen pipelines, solar farms, power stations, highways and much more, we pride ourselves in carrying out a professional, high quality service for our clients.

LDC are looking for a flexible and well rounded candidate to join the time immediately on a full time contract.

The ideal candidate should have an understanding of environmental processes and issues with an interest in soil sustainability and should enjoy working outdoors.

Our soil surveying role is varied, candidates are involved in all aspect of our projects from desktop studies of existing environmental information, fieldwork to collect baseline soil characteristics and samples (full training will be provided), data management/ interpretation and presenting findings to support reporting of Environmental Impact assessments, planning applications, soil resource and Agricultural Land Classification assessments. A suitable candidate will be comfortable in an agricultural setting and accustomed to working outside in all weather but also in an office environment.

You will be working in a small team of young professionals on a range of projects throughout the UK and Ireland renewable energy sector including nationally significant infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate would be based from our Escrick office (south of York) but would be expected to travel to projects for surveys and meetings, with an approximate time split of 50/50 office/site work.

Driving licence and own vehicle essential.
