We're seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our global IT team and play a key role in maintaining and modernising our on-premises infrastructure in Liverpool. Your initial focus will be on virtualization of the existing R&D environment, ensuring a robust and scalable foundation for innovation. You'll collaborate closely with both the global IT team and the on-site R&D team to enable smooth software product development, testing, and deployment. Who are we? As an IT Systems Administrator, you'll take ownership of critical infrastructure projects and ensure our systems meet the highest standards of performance and security. Your responsibilities will include: Design and implement a robust virtualisation environment to transition from physical desktops to scalable virtual machines Ensure security best practices and ISO 27001 compliance across all environments in collaboration with our CISO Collaborate with R&D to align infrastructure with development and testing requirements Lead internal IT projects, including network upgrades, tool integrations, and asset management Reuse and optimise existing tools and processes for virtualisation Support follow-up initiatives, including: • Secure networking solutions (alternatives to full air-gapping)• Central authentication and identity management • Patch and update management • Backup and recovery strategies What are we looking for? To succeed in this role, you'll bring a strong technical foundation and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Specifically, we're looking for: Deep understanding of software development environments, tools, and lifecycles, Proven experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), Solid knowledge of networking, authentication systems, and IT security best practices, Hands-on experience with server infrastructure and cluster setups, Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for infrastructure innovation.
