The Position
As a Principal Civil Engineer working primarily with clients in the regulated water sector, you will be responsible for technical design and analysis of new build and existing steel, reinforced above and below ground concrete civil structures. This involves utilizing appropriate structural analysis and design packages in accordance with local and national guidance. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining high levels of quality, considering sustainability and safety throughout the design and asset lifecycle, and effectively managing time and budgets to meet project milestones and programmes. With the business experiencing significant growth, there will be ample opportunities to showcase leadership and client-facing skills, mentor junior colleagues, and identify new business prospects.
The Candidate
To be considered for the Principal Civil Engineer position, ideal candidates should hold a degree up to MSc level, possess chartership status, and have relevant experience in the UK infrastructure sector. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate knowledge of structural engineering codes such as Eurocodes/BSI, as well as experience in RC design and detailing, particularly in water retaining structures, soil retaining structures, and foundation design. Desirable experience includes:
# Experience in steelwork design
# Conceptual understanding of geotechnics and soil-structure interactions
# Ability to prepare and review structural designs
# Knowledge of computational analysis techniques and software, familiarity with BIM is advantageous
# Experience in construction techniques is a plus
# Commitment to sustainability practices, such as re-use of existing structures and materials, and design for low carbon construction

Salary and Benefits
