The role

As a Paralegal at Monex, you will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance, managing documentation, and supporting the legal team in various aspects of their responsibilities. You will be responsible for assisting with transactional documentation, contract management, regulatory compliance, and legal project management.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Negotiate derivatives documentation and other legal agreements to achieve optimal outcomes;
  • Assist in creating and maintaining know-how, drafting guidance notes, and playbooks on specialized legal matters;
  • Draft, negotiate, and review terms and conditions for FX transactions, payment services, and credit support documents;
  • Prepare and review Margin Facility Agreements and general commercial contracts;
  • Handle legal notices, board resolutions, and filings with Companies House;
  • Maintain confidentiality agreements and company information on relevant platforms;
  • Liaise with external suppliers, law firms, and finance teams regarding legal matters and budget management;
  • Support the Head of Legal with day-to-day tasks and legal research as needed;
  • Maintain document archives and electronic records efficiently.

Key skills, experience and competencies required to be successful in this role

  • Proficient in ISDA and other derivatives negotiation.
  • Previous experience in a legal or compliance role within a financial services firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ability to stay updated on emerging legal trends.
  • Strong understanding of data protection laws, particularly GDPR.
  • Experience with legal library databases such as PLC, Lexis Nexis, and Lexology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or related field.
  • Paralegal certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and review.
