The role:

Enterprise Service architects are a visible champion for Service Architecture and architectural governance, they are the operational functional lead and provide day to day architectural oversight, control and day-to-day decision making on major change activities escalating major decisions to the head of.

As an Enterprise Service Architect, you will:

  • Alignment to operational and assurance strategy that underpin our customer needs.
  • Actively contributing to the overall team strategy and take accountabilities for aspects of the Major Change and ODA team.
  • Contributing to assurance performance measures demonstrating value for money, identifying potential cost reductions, and describing customer value/benefit.
  • Supporting the alignment to and enhancement of quality and standards, include overall department performance measurement, internal customer engagement and feedback, driving CSIP activities.
  • Responsible for collating and reporting architectural RAID items related to assigned project items.
  • Supporting the ongoing management of Major Change and ODA policies designed to underpin our customer needs and drive our suppliers' behaviours.
  • Working collaboratively with wider Operational teams, support the shape and design of the E2E Operational teams and capabilities aligning the integration of new services and products to a TOM.
  • Ensure key Operational and business requirements are captured and traced through to sign off.
  • As the key interface with the Programme and Design functions, ensure that operational requirements are accurately captured in a quality and timely manner.
  • Ensuring any modifications or transitions to the live operational environment are managed, planned and coordinated through Service architecture processes and activities to facilitate a smooth transition to live operation.
  • Feeds into and supports Operational Change & Transition key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics packages and related information demonstrating value and sound business outcomes.
  • Owning and delivering end to end service architecture packages through robust planning and management (including RAID) ensuring that Service Design supports programmatic/project delivery dates.
  • Influencing the project/program and key stakeholders to ensure that the product or solution delivered meets the strategic aims and needs of Operations.
  • Producing iterative Impact Assessment’s identifying the impact of change to Operations, the resources required to deliver the change and the required enterprise service architecture artefacts to ensure that the product or solution can be successfully operated in-life.
  • Acting as an SME interface to program/projects for Operational colleagues by leading and moderating workshops to identify, interpret, qualify and, where necessary, improve Operational requirements.
  • Translating requirements and obligations (including Regulatory) into enterprise service artefacts describing the scope of services, delivery model(s), people, processes, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and supporting Operational Level Agreements (OLAs).
  • Representing Operations through procurement in vendor moderation and evaluation process ensuring the best outcomes for Operations.
  • Working with commercial teams ensuring that there are robust commercial agreements and contract schedules reflecting appropriate measures and controls to enable service management.
  • Identifying service risks in contract clauses and recommending appropriate control measures.
  • Producing enterprise service architecture artefacts which include, but are not limited to, High level Service Designs, system data, plans, and Ways of working documents.
  • Conducting regular reporting on all projects/initiatives: effectiveness, highlighting delays/risks and make constructive suggestions as to how these can be overcome.
  • Adherence to internal governance processes ensuring that the end to end service design package is a quality product.
  • Take end to end ownership of Operational delivery of a Programme/project or group of smaller projects for Operations.

What are we looking for? 

  • Able to build working relationships with internal stakeholders, ask them questions in a sensitive way, and communicate relevant information effectively and clearly. Project Management.
  • Understands the basic principles of project management, including setting milestones, dependencies, and planning resources. Produces accurate work in accordance with specified requirements, objectives, and timelines. MS Office skills.
  • Able to use Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to an acceptable standard, including: producing presentations in an acceptable corporate style, producing properly templated Word documents, and handling simple data stored in Excel. Service Architecture (Strategy, Standards, Design and Management).
  • Contributes to the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas. 
  • Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability. Determines and documents architecturally significant decisions. 
  • Produces specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers and interfaces, for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
