External Content Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced External Content Manager to join our Marketing and Communications team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our brand presence, managing our external content, and ensuring our messaging is cohesive, impactful, and aligned with our core values. The role could be based in our Manchester or London office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that encompasses all external communications to elevate the company's brand identity and market presence.
- Own and continuously enhance the website content. In conjunction with our digital marketing team, conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with the latest SEO practices and brand messaging.
- Oversee the creation, distribution, and management of engaging and informative content across various platforms including the company website, social media, and press releases.
- Working with the sector and regional marketing teams, create a plan for thought leadership and external articles to support our sector and regional growth plans.
- Act as a point of contact for our external PR agency. Manage the content flow between agency and the team to ensure strategies are aligned, objectives are met, and the collaboration is productive and results-driven.
- Ensure all external content is consistent with our brand voice, values, and standards.
- Working with the digital marketing team utilise analytics tools to track, analyse, and report on the performance of external content. Provide insights and recommendations for content optimisation and strategy adjustments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, insights, and updates that inform content creation.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in content management, PR, or a similar role in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful content strategies.
- Strong understanding of SEO, content marketing, and media strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage external partnerships effectively.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and analytics tools.
- Prior experience in managing external agencies or contractors.
- Creative and strategic thinking with the ability to innovate and adapt.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
