Our Mission At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky. We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030. What To Expect The Manufacturing Engineering Industrialisation team leads the New Product Introduction and industrialisation of the manufacturing and assembly systems needed to take our VX4 aircraft from prototype to full production. We deliver Manufacturing Engineering excellence to the business to enable the NPI and industrialisation of our products and bring them to market. The Manufacturing Engineer – Aircraft will support the development and industrialisation of Vertical Aerospace manufacturing and assembly systems to support our products entry to low-rate production. The ME - aircraft will also lead the industrialisation of the production systems to support the increase in production volume required to meet our targets. This role is crucial to Vertical Aerospace's successful entry to low-rate production and will be instrumental in defining the necessary changes in the manufacturing and assembly systems required to meet our production volumes. What You'll Do Responsible for the delivery of Manufacturing Engineering elements of APQP (AS9145) Support the definition of Manufacturing Engineering best practice Define and deliver assembly systems for the production of the VX4 aircraft Develop and industrialise Vertical Aerospace assembly lines Embed lean manufacturing principles into Vertical Aerospace Production facilities Create and manage industrial planning for Vertical Aerospace production facilities Lead Capability acquisition within Vertical Aerospace Lead and embed Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfM/A) within our products What You'll Bring Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know this is the role for me? We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences: 6+ years in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering Strong ability to deal with ambiguity Demonstrated experience of AS9145 APQP is highly desirable Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation of aerospace products Experience in aircraft assembly is highly desirable Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills What can you expect from us? We're on a mission. Where others see limits, we see opportunity, and we work at pace. Working at Vertical isn't your average role but for those seeking a challenge, a flexible, supportive organisation and an incredible team; working here is an opportunity to do the best work of your career. Our approach promotes ingenuity and courage, while our environment builds success through diligence in safety and being open in the way we work. The only way we're going to assure the next chapter of aviation history is by working as a team, relentlessly, towards our goal.
