About Anglo-Eastern Are you interested in joining a global leader in ship management and an industry powerhouse with a family feel? Headquartered in the vibrant city of Hong Kong, we've been at the helm of the maritime industry for 50 years, with our comprehensive suite of services encompassing all aspects of ship management, crew management, cruise management and technical services across all vessel types and sizes. Our reach is truly worldwide, with a presence in over 29 locations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas. At Anglo-Eastern, we're more than just a service provider; we are innovators, problem-solvers, and pioneers, that are progressively setting the standard so that we can shape a better maritime future. The Technical Department The Technical Department is a vital department responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our diverse fleet of vessels. Our talented team plays a crucial role in upholding the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency in maritime operations. We are committed to safeguarding the integrity and performance of our vessels, while optimizing their operational capabilities. We have built a culture that encourages collaboration, values individual contributions, and champions personal growth and development. What You will Do The Fleet Manager provides overall technical leadership and coordination for a group of 20–30 ships managed through several Vessel Managers. Reporting to the Managing Director or Technical Director, the Fleet Manager ensures that all vessels under his or her responsibility are maintained to Anglo-Eastern's highest standards of safety, reliability, and cost efficiency. While each Vessel Manager handles the day-to-day management of individual ships, the Fleet Manager oversees their performance, approves major plans and budgets, supports complex maintenance decisions, and ensures consistency in procedures, reporting, and compliance across the fleet. For RoRo and short-sea fleets, this includes a particular focus on operational reliability, ramp and cargo-handling systems and schedule integrity. The focus is on effective oversight and team development — maximising vessel reliability, operational excellence, and client satisfaction through strong technical governance and leadership. Roles and Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate the technical management of the assigned fleet (typically 20–30 vessels) through a team of Vessel Managers, ensuring consistent application of Anglo-Eastern standards and procedures. Supervise, mentor, and develop Vessel Managers, providing guidance, feedback, and performance oversight to maintain high standards of safety, reliability, and cost control. Review and approve vessel budgets, major repair projects, and dry-docking plans; monitor expenditures to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with owner expectations. Ensure compliance with the company's Safety Management System (SMS), international conventions, class, flag, and regulatory requirements across all vessels. Act as the escalation point for technical or operational issues, incidents, and emergencies, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with stakeholders. Foster strong client relationships, maintaining open communication with shipowners on fleet performance, cost trends, and improvement initiatives. Lead continuous improvement, analysing performance data, audit results, and incident reports to enhance reliability, maintenance planning, and operational practices. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Marine HR, QHSE, and Procurement teams to ensure cohesive support and resource alignment for the managed fleet. Report to Managing Director and Ship Owner on fleet performance, cost control, and key risks, providing recommendations for technical and operational improvements. What We Are Looking For Qualifications and Experience At least 7 years of shore-based experience in technical or fleet management within a ship management environment. Proven experience leading a team of Vessel Managers or Technical Superintendents, with the ability to manage multiple vessels and clients effectively. Deep understanding of vessel systems, maintenance planning, and ship repair processes. A Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (or equivalent senior technical background) is preferred. Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, class and flag requirements, ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, and MARPOL. Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience with fleet-wide budgeting, cost analysis, and resource allocation. Experience with RoRo or short-sea shipping operations is highly desirable, including familiarity with ramp systems, and high-frequency port operations. Excellent command of English and strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Core Competencies and Attributes Strategic yet hands-on, capable of balancing technical detail with big-picture oversight. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Able to foster collaboration across departments and offices to achieve operational consistency and efficiency. Composed and decisive under pressure, maintaining professionalism when managing incidents or client escalations. Willing and able to travel internationally for vessel visits, client meetings, and dry-dock supervision as required. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation of the responsibilities/qualifications required in the role. In addition, they will exemplify Anglo-Eastern's values, be a team player and exhibit passion for making a meaningful impact. The right behaviours can often outweigh a specific skill set or experience and we are committed to developing and providing the right training, coaching and experiences for candidates to be successful. What We Offer We aim to provide a dynamic, inclusive, and rewarding work environment where your ideas are valued, your professional growth is nurtured, and you are able contribute to shaping the future of the maritime industry and keeping the world connected.
