Public Spaces Operations Manager

About The Role

This is a role for an experienced public spaces manager/professional to continue to deliver the high service standards and value for money Fareham’s residents expect. Reporting to the Head of Streetscene, you will manage and develop the Council’s in-house operational grounds maintenance and streetcleansing services, cemeteries, allotments, countryside, recreation grounds, playgrounds and our award-winning parks and open spaces . You’ll provide supportive leadership to a team of around 70 employees.

As the Council’s senior expert in Public Spaces Management, you will drive service review and development, service commercialisation and income opportunities.

You will lead on one-off Public Spaces projects and actively engage in wider corporate projects that require Streetscene involvement.

About You

We're looking for a highly resilient Public Spaces professional,experienced in leading people across high profile frontline services. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering continuous improvement and excellent knowledge of the Acts and Regulations pursuant to the role.

You’ll bring experience of driving service engagement with residents and businesses, always with an eye to doing the best for our customers with constrained resources.

You’ll have an honest and straightforward style, excellent communication and negotiation abilities and share the value that customers are at the heart of all that we do. You’ll support a corporate culture which encourages innovation and creates trust and respect throughout the service in a safe, open and equitable environment.
