Overview

A Plant Specialist is responsible for the creation of all detailed custom orders. Custom jamb work and rework requiring use of a variety of Machines including a custom CNC Jamb machine. As experts in their area(s) they are at times, responsible for cross training and new hire training. Plant Specialists help drive the custom department forward. Strong attention to detail is essential for success as well as the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints. We are searching for someone who has strong integrity under pressure; someone who can deliver innovative solutions to complex problems and is willing to work overtime occasionally to meet business needs.

What you will do:

  • Contribute to and foster a safe work environment by upholding all safety rules and procedures, participating in training, asking questions when unsure, and embracing our Target Zero philosophy.
  • Position and secure working pieces on machine, measuring instruments and other tools to operate machine efficiently and safely to perform molding operations from start to finish.
  • Responsible for the creation of all detailed custom orders. Custom jamb work and rework.
  • Inspect product for defects and work closely with co-workers and quality team members to identify root-causes and corrective actions to maintain Masonite quality standards.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties and carry out special projects as assigned. Respond quickly to production line concerns by solving minor problems and requesting assistance for problems beyond their expertise.
  • Operate planers and gang rip saws.
  • Maintain downtime records and production information as appropriate.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the production process, ensuring manufacturing specifications are achieved.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively to support product flow through plant.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to help train new employees to the area and help in other areas as needed.
  • Knowledge of architectural specifications and wood products.

Will primarily work in the following areas:

Shapers; Half lap; Arch forms; CNC Jam machine:

Re-working and installing jambs. Use production paperwork and develops the special added value pieces to orders; submits forms to have the pieces cut. Communicates with others to get materials.

What you will need:

  • Preferably three + years’ experience in manufacturing setting
  • High school Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical diploma considered an asset
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to lift to 50lbs and on occasion push/pull 100lbs.
  • Ability to read, follow, and understand work instructions from both written and verbal sources and basic writing skills.
  • Excellent attendance record and commitment to your team members, self-motivation, and accountability to safety & quality.
  • Knowledge of architectural specifications and wood products.
  • Knowledge of door construction, stile and rail, frames, and specialty flush door.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have high attention to detail.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine programming parameters.
  • Perform machine adjustment calculations.

Pay : Base pay will vary within depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
