Role : Commodity Specialist

Location : Wiltshire (Commutable from Swindon or Bristol)

A global engineering and manufacturing business is looking for a Procurement Manager to join its global supply chain team, you will drive procurement activity across all product categories for the newest technologies and early supplier engagement.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for procurement and will work closely with the New Product Introduction, Research and Engineering teams and will support and develop the procurement and supply chain strategies for new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee sourcing initiatives and take responsibility for delivering multiple project activities, emphasising complex assemblies and emerging filtration technologies
  • Propel Upstream Procurement initiatives to secure high-quality parts or sub-assemblies that satisfy performance, functional, and commercial criteria
  • Conduct necessary due diligence and qualification for new suppliers, steering supplier development programs in line with the Commodity Strategy
  • Head Upstream Procurement engagement among RDD, Commodity Managers, and Suppliers, championing and driving upstream procurement activities.
  • Utilise suppliers to leverage their expertise and capabilities, consistently reviewing and updating the technology roadmap

Skills & Experience

  • Possess a degree in a relevant engineering field (such as mechanical engineering, chemistry, material science, manufacturing engineering, etc.) or a commercial discipline, coupled with demonstrable work experience in these domains.
  • Demonstrate expertise in sourcing and engaging with suppliers early in the development of new technologies or material-based assemblies.
  • Exhibit the ability to collaborate effectively and influence various stakeholders across diverse product categories.
  • Proven self-starter capable of efficiently and systematically driving early part sourcing activities.
  • Previous experience in an engineering environment is advantageous, particularly familiarity with manufacturing, testing, and processes related to multi-component assemblies, plastic parts, or filtration.

  • Able to work collaboratively and influence multiple stakeholders across the different product categories
